The South African Upcoming Music Awards were conceptualized with the aim of recognizing excellence in the music industry for upcoming musicians by SAUMA Group, a 100% black-owned media company. It was established in 2008 to harness business and economic opportunities, create employment and help to usher the previously disadvantaged community into the hitherto media sector and mainstream of economic activity.
