The DA said it will file charges against Julius Malema at the United Nations Human Rights Council for chanting the anti-apartheid slogan popularised by the late ANC Youth League president Peter Mokaba.

CAPE TOWN - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said the Democratic Alliance (DA) can go to hell with its action against party leader Julius Malema for chanting “Kill the boer, kill the farmer" at the red berets’ 10th anniversary celebrations.

The DA said it will file charges against Julius Malema at the United Nations Human Rights Council for chanting the anti-apartheid slogan popularised by the late ANC Youth League president Peter Mokaba.

Its federal leader John Steenhuisen also wants President Cyril Ramaphosa to take a stand against the EFF.

Malema led his party’s celebrations before thousands – who had filled up FNB stadium on Saturday.

EFF national spokesperson Sinawo Tambo said the Equality Court has already ruled that the chant doesn't constitute hate speech.

Tambo said the DA and the ANC can do whatever they want.

"I don't think there's a difference between the DA and the ANC so if Cyril Ramaphosa attempts to take action against the eff for commemorating South Africa's liberation struggle, we won't be shocked. The DA and the ANC are one and the same. We're not even taking it seriously, we're still in a celebratory mood."
