Floyd Shivambu, a founding leader of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters and party leader Julius Malema’s wing man, has defected to Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe Party in a surprise move. What made him do it?

The Economic Freedom Fighters called an urgent press conference on Thursday for the deputy president and co-founder Floyd Shivambu to announce his departure from the political party – which he has helped build to become the third biggest opposition party in South Africa.

NEWS: The ruling of the Pretoria High Court shows that President Cyril Ramaphosa was advised by the Willies Mchunu panel not to rush to recognise King Misuzulu as the King of the Zulu nation, but he forged ahead. There was also a recommendation to have an acting King.
