In a match that has tested South Africa (Bafana Bafana), they managed to secure victory against hosts South Sudan on 10 September at the Juba Stadium. The game was very intense as the host nation drew first blood, but Bafana Bafana didn’t step of the accelerator as two minutes after the first goal they equalised bringing the silence to the Juba crowd. With the first half coming to a close, South Africa had managed to be in the lead, ending the half to a 2 goals to 1 lead. The hosts were not scared as they managed to bring the game to a two all draw during the second half. It would be only towards the end of the game that South African super-substitute Thalente Mbatha would once again show his ability of quick thinking to score the much needed final goal and give South Africa the win, ending the game 3-2 and giving a much deserved 3 points putting Bafana Bafana in second place in the group C table.
